Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Matt Roderick with Rapid-Aerial.com. Rapid-Aerial specializes in drone imaging solutions – for video production and many other applications.
We grabbed a cup of coffee after I posted in a filmmaker forum that I was looking to develop relationships with drone owners and pilots instead of purchasing my own drone and getting my own license. The fact is, right now I’m primarily a one-man-band, but I’m always on the look-out for partnerships with other professionals and production companies that can bring in more work together than on their own.
After we chatted for a bit, I proposed to him the idea of cross-promoting each other. We’d shoot a video featuring his drone work, introduce ourselves to the camera, and then bounce off each other’s respective example footage while an original Flying Fedora Film score carried us through. It was super cold the day we filmed – our fingers were numb almost instantly – but the resulting feeling was one of comradery and possibility, which was reflected in the resulting music score. I greatly enjoyed editing this piece together and can’t wait to do something like this again.
I’m continuing to have conversations with as many media professionals as I can manage, in the hopes of building something in Boise far bigger than the sum of its parts. Stay tuned…
